Role Purpose:
To support Torfaen County Borough Council (TCBC) community services by offering time, skills, and enthusiasm to supportour prevention services by offering time, empathy, and commitment to help individuals and families access support, this role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting vulnerable people and contributing to a more inclusive and supportive community. Volunteers will assist with signposting, administrative tasks, and engagement activities that promote stability and wellbeing across the communities of Torfaen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and assist visitors to the Prevention Hub in a friendly and respectful manner
- Support staff with administrative tasks such inputting referrals onto electronic systems from space and wellbeing and the mental health support team, letter generation, email responses to parents.
- Assist with filing, photocopying, shredding of documents, processing of documentation and any other associated administrative tasks
- Answering telephone calls and where required signposting to support services
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding, GDPR and data protection policies
- Work in accordance with health and safety guidelines and Torfaen County Borough Council (TCBC ) policies
Requirements:
- Undertake Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
- Commitment to uphold Torfaen Council’s values of inclusivity, respect, and community service
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Reliability and punctuality in attending agreed volunteering sessions
- Willingness to undertake additional training when required
Skills & Experience (Desirable /Essential):
- Interest in community development (Essential)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills (Essential)
- Excellent IT skills, and the willingness to learn and navigate the Prevention Hub systems (Essential)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team (Essential)
- Adaptable and able to meet changing priorities (Essential)
- Previous volunteering, community engagement, experience within an administration environment (Desirable)
