Role Purpose:
Torfaen County Borough Council (TCBC) collaborates with local volunteers to manage around twenty community halls and venues across the Borough owned by TCBC. These spaces are at the heart of the community, hosting events and activities that bring people together. We are seeking several enthusiastic volunteers to help the centres and management committees keep these venues running smoothly in support of the communities. Your time, skills and enthusiasm can make a real difference, whether it is assisting with day-to-day operations, supporting events, or helping visitor’s feel at home. During an informal chat you will have the chance to choose and be introduced to your preferred venue and share the skills you would like to offer. Torfaen County Borough Council partners with Torfaen Voluntary Alliance (TVA) to ensure that you have the support you need to succeed and enjoy your volunteering experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome visitors and provide information about hall facilities and activities
- Open and close premises if needed (dependant on hall /venue requirements)
- Assist with setting up and clearing away for events, meetings, and activities
- Help maintain cleanliness and tidiness of communal areas
- Support hall users with basic queries and signpost to relevant services or staff
- Promote and help develop community activities and encourage participation
- Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed
- Report any issues or concerns to the designated staff member
- Attend occasional volunteer meetings and training sessions as required
- Above responsibilities may vary dependant on the needs of the venue and this will be discussed at interview stage
