Join us for an ID walk and talk to learn about coal spoil wildlife and plants!
As part of the Healthy Planet, Healthy People Project, Torfaen County Borough Council are running a variety of wildlife survey training events. This training is being delivered by Glo i Natur CIC’s Liam Olds and Christian Owen. The walk will cover the Coity, Garn Lakes, Cefn Garn y Erw landscape.
This event will cover:
• Identification of characteristic coal spoil habitats
• Key flora, invertebrates and other wildlife associated with coal spoil habitats
• Species identification training throughout the walk
• Discussion of the ecological importance of post-industrial habitats

This event will run from 10am to 3pm, with a break for lunch, it will involve walking a circular route at a slow pace, approximately 2-3 miles.
Need to know:
This event is free to attend, with a capacity of 20 people.

Please bring a drink, packed lunch, binoculars and ID guides if you wish to use them, we will have some ID resources to use.
Please dress appropriately for the weather with good walking shoes.
