PERMA stands for Positive emotions, (such as hope, gratitude, joy, love, bliss and awe), Engagement is where you do an activity and lose track of time (your FLOW activity which promotes your wellbeing), Relationships - positive and rewarding relationships built on kindness and consideration (imagine having and being a cheerleader and where spending time together is a tonic). The M in PERMA stands for Meaning and that is finding your purpose, contribution or MOJO, research shows people with strong meaning in the lives, are happier and don't contemplate self harm or suicide and A is for Accomplishments - working towards a worthy goal - realizing that where you are in 12 month can be completely different to where you are now. We have so much potential and growth and development is hardwired in our psyche.
Miriam Akhtar the TOP Masters in Applied Positive Psychology in the UK is our Ambassador (worked on the World book of Hope with the Dalai Llama among other things) and we are delighted to offer sessions of her Little Toolkit of Happiness which teaches happiness habits to people who want to become more optimistic, more resilient and ultimately happier. Sowing the seeds of happiness is a course we offer for young people to be empowered with these skills to navigate and overcome challenges in life.
