Torfaen Gold Challenge & Emergency Food Aid Grants
Does your organisation have a fresh idea to boost access to healthy, affordable, sustainable food or cut down food waste?
Torfaen, a Silver Sustainable Food Place, invites community groups to apply for two funding opportunities to support local food initiatives:
Gold Challenge Community Food Grants
Fund A: £500 – £5,000 to help local groups pilot or grow projects improving access to sustainable food and food education
Fund B: £100 – £2,500 for food initiatives specifically supporting residents with protected characteristics
Groups can apply to Fund A, Fund B, or both.
Who can apply?
- Community Interest Companies
- Community Groups
- Social Enterprises
- Charities
- Volunteer Groups
- Public Sector & Businesses (including education settings) working with communities
Criteria
Projects must contribute to one or more of the following:
- Good Food Movement – expanding public awareness and local food citizenship
- Healthy Food for All – ensuring dignified, equitable access to nutritious food
- Sustainable Food Economy – supporting local food businesses
- Catering and Procurement – improving local food supply chains
- Food for the Planet – reducing food waste and supporting climate-friendly food systems
How does it work?
Applicants must demonstrate clear community benefit, sustainable outcomes, and provide evidence of all spending.
Application deadline: 27 July 2026
Projects must be completed by: 16 February 2026
