About

Digital Volunteering Project Officer for the #CrowdCymru Project

Welcome to #CrowdCymru

An exciting digital archives volunteer project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Run jointly by Gwent Archives, Glamorgan Archives and Cardiff University Special Collections & Archives and accessed via the crowdsourcing platform established by National Library Wales.

This project will be of great interest to those who have always wanted to become involved volunteering with South Wales archives but are unable to travel to any of the sites. This project is completely digital, so it doesn’t matter where you are as long as you have online access!

The project will create a bilingual online platform for remote volunteers to tag, annotate and describe the digital heritage collections held within these exceptional repositories. Archive services across Wales hold millions of irreplaceable records, but many are only minimally catalogued and therefore difficult to identify and find. This project will harness the knowledge of individuals in communities across Wales and beyond to enrich our collective heritage for the benefit of current and future generations - locally, nationally, and globally.

So, if you have online access, a little time on your hands and would like to be part of this project just let us know.

Helo, fy enw i yw Jen ac rwy'n Swyddog Prosiect Gwirfoddoli Digidol ar brosiect cyffrous iawn sy'n cael ei redeg ar y cyd gan Archifau Gwent, Archifau Morgannwg a Chasgliadau Arbennig ac Archifau Prifysgol Caerdydd. Fe'i hariennir gan Gronfa Dreftadaeth y Loteri Genedlaethol a bydd mynediad trwy lwyfan torfol a sefydlwyd gan Lyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru. Bydd y prosiect hwn o ddiddordeb mawr i’r rhai sydd bob amser wedi bod eisiau ymwneud â gwirfoddoli gydag archifau De Cymru ond nad ydynt yn gallu teithio i unrhyw un o’r safleoedd.

Rydyn ni’n gwbl ddigidol, felly does dim ots ble rydych chi cyn belled â bod gennych chi fynediad ar-lein, a gallwch chi gyfrannu cyn lleied neu gymaint o amser ag y dymunwch!

Bydd y prosiect yn creu llwyfan ar-lein dwyieithog i wirfoddolwyr o bell dagio, anodi a disgrifio’r casgliadau treftadaeth ddigidol a gedwir o fewn y cadwrfeydd eithriadol hyn. Mae gwasanaethau archifau ledled Cymru yn cadw miliynau o gofnodion unigryw, ond mae llawer ohonynt wedi’u catalogio’n fach iawn ac felly’n anodd eu hadnabod a’u canfod. Bydd y prosiect hwn yn harneisio gwybodaeth unigolion mewn cymunedau ledled Cymru a thu hwnt i gyfoethogi ein treftadaeth gyfunol er budd cenedlaethau’r presennol a’r dyfodol – yn lleol, yn genedlaethol ac yn fyd-eang.

Daw'r llun sydd ynghlwm o Ffotograffau Cymunedol Dociau Caerdydd a gedwir yn Archifau Morgannwg. Portreadau yw’r rhain o unigolion a grwpiau, o gymuned dociau Caerdydd, a dynnwyd rhwng 1900-1920. Cymerwyd llawer ohonynt gan Fred Petersen o Stryd Bute, dyn o Ddenmarc (o Copenhagen) a ymsefydlodd yng Nghaerdydd rywbryd ar ddiwedd y 19eg ganrif. Mae'r casgliad hwn yn un yn unig o lawer y mae partneriaid y prosiect yn bwriadu ei ddarparu i wirfoddolwyr ei archwilio a gweithio arno.

Cofiwch gysylltu os hoffech gymryd rhan!
