The Torfaen Healthy Planet, Healthy People project is a five-year £800,000 initiative aimed at getting a better understanding of the nature that we have in Torfaen, how we interact with it and how we can improve greenspaces so nature and people thrive together.
Opportunities include:
Nature Town Connect network – we will be developing a network of people interested in supporting nature in Torfaen and holding regular Skills Hubs, wildlife recording and practical conservation action days
Nature Schools – working with schools to design more nature rich school grounds and green spaces near them to offer more opportunities for children and young people to connect to nature locally
Co-design workshops – bringing together local communities, individuals and groups with local experts to design green spaces that are richer in nature and easier for people to access
Nature events and activities programme – as well as taking part in the Torfaen summer events programme, we will be offering lots of other opportunities to get out into nature. If you have an idea for something that you think people would love to do, let us know.
The Healthy Planet Healthy People project is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, The National Trust and Natural England
