Role Purpose
The Men’s Talk Facilitator supports the delivery of Torfaen Talks by creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for men to share experiences, discuss challenges, and connect with others. This volunteer role helps guide conversations, encourage participation, and foster a sense of community, wellbeing, and mutual respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate group discussions in a supportive and non-judgmental way.
- Create a safe, respectful, and confidential environment for participants.
- Encourage participation while respecting individual comfort levels.
- Support planning and preparation of session topics or activities as needed.
- Listen actively and respond empathetically to participants’ contributions.
- Uphold the values and guidelines of Torfaen Talks, including confidentiality and inclusivity.
- Provide feedback to organisers on session dynamics, themes, and participant needs.
- Assist with outreach or promotion of sessions to engage the local community.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to listen with empathy and without judgment.
- Confidence in facilitating small group discussions.
- Reliable and able to commit to regular volunteer sessions.
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Passion for supporting men’s wellbeing and community connection.
