On the 1st June Andy Davies leads us on a walk on a rural and urban route around Rogerstone.
Rogerstone is a large village near Newport. It lies at the gateway to the Sirhowy Valley to the north on the eastern side of the Ebbw River. The village was popular for its production of tin iron and aluminium during the Industrial Revolution. Popular sites near are Fourteen Locks and the Monmouthshire Canal.
Our walk is 4 miles and is a level 7 on our walk difficulty scale. There are gentle hills to begin with but then flattens out. The terrain is part fields then skirting around part of the main town.
Please wear weather appropriate clothing and good boots. There is free parking available close at the Glade Cafe. Here are directions -
