Role Purpose
The LGBTQ+ Circle Ambassador supports the creation and growth of safe, inclusive and affirming circle spaces for LGBTQ+ individuals. This volunteer role helps foster connection, belonging and peer support through circle sessions where people can share experiences, feel heard and build community. Ambassadors help uphold the values of respect, confidentiality and inclusion within the circle.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a welcoming and inclusive presence within LGBTQ+ circle spaces.
- Support the promotion of LGBTQ+ circle sessions and community activities.
- Welcome and support new and existing members to help them feel safe and comfortable.
- Assist with setting up, supporting or co-facilitating circle sessions where appropriate.
- Help maintain circle guidelines including confidentiality, respect and non-judgement.
- Encourage participation while respecting individual comfort levels.
- Share feedback and community insights with organisers to support continuous improvement.
- Support outreach to help LGBTQ+ individuals access circle spaces.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Passion for LGBTQ+ inclusion, wellbeing and peer support.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to hold space and listen with empathy and without judgement.
- Reliable, organised and able to commit agreed volunteer time.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Desirable
- Experience attending, supporting or facilitating circle groups or peer support spaces.
- Experience in community work, volunteering or advocacy.
- Understanding of inclusive language and diverse LGBTQ+ experiences.
- Confidence supporting small group discussions (if relevant).
