The Ticket Officer is responsible for selling, issuing, and managing tickets for train services and special events at Blaenavon Heritage Railway. Based primarily in the booking office, this role ensures that passengers receive friendly, efficient service while maintaining accurate financial and operational records. The Ticket Officer is often the first point of contact for visitors, setting the tone for a welcoming and enjoyable heritage experience.
Key Tasks
- Sell and issue tickets for train services, group bookings, and special events.
- Operate the booking office till or ticketing system accurately and securely.
- Handle cash and card transactions in line with railway procedures.
- Provide visitors with information about train times, fares, facilities, and events.
- Maintain booking office records, including daily sales sheets and ticket stock control.
- Liaise with the Station Master, Guard, and other operational staff to ensure accurate passenger information.
- Keep the booking office clean, tidy, and presentable, reflecting the heritage style of the railway
- Answer visitor enquiries in person, by phone, or by email (where applicable).
- Assist with promoting special events, membership, and other railway activities.
