The Ticket Collector is a key member of the train and station team, responsible for welcoming passengers, checking and collecting tickets, and helping to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey for all visitors. Working alongside the guard, station staff, and booking office team, the ticket collector provides a friendly face of the railway while maintaining operational safety and efficiency.
key Tasks
- Check and collect passenger tickets on trains or at station platforms.
- Assist passengers in finding seats and provide information about the journey, timetable, and heritage railway.
- Work with the Guard and Station Master to ensure passengers board and alight safely.
- Support crowd management and platform safety, particularly during busy periods or special events
- Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and promoting a positive visitor experience
- Monitor the cleanliness and presentation of carriages, reporting any issues to the Guard or Operations team.
- Assist with dispatching trains when requested by the Guard or Station Master.
- Represent Blaenavon Heritage Railway in a polite, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Support other departments where needed, such as event operations or visitor assistance.
