The Social Media Volunteer helps promote Blaenavon Heritage Railway, its events, and activities to a wide audience. This role is key to increasing public engagement, attracting visitors, and sharing the railway’s heritage story online. Volunteers use creativity and communication skills to maintain and grow the railway’s social media presence across multiple platforms.
Key Tasks
- Create and schedule engaging content for social media platforms, including photos, videos, and posts.
- Monitor social media channels and respond to enquiries or comments in a professional and friendly manner.
- Promote special events, volunteer opportunities, and heritage projects to attract visitors and support fundraising.
- Work with other departments to gather news, stories, and updates for sharing online.
- Take and edit photographs or short videos of trains, volunteers, and events for social media use.
- Maintain a consistent brand and tone in all online communications.
- Track engagement and analytics to help improve reach and effectiveness of posts.
- Ensure all content complies with copyright, data protection, and safeguarding guidelines.
- Assist with social media campaigns or competitions to increase public interest.
- Support the Marketing & Communications team in wider publicity efforts as needed.
