The Data Entry & Family Tree Researcher supports the museum by maintaining accurate records and assisting with genealogical research. This role ensures that the museum’s archives, collections, and historical data are up to date, accessible, and useful for visitors, researchers, and the wider community interested in Blaenavon’s heritage.
Key Tasks
- Enter and update information in the museum’s databases, including artefact records, visitor logs, and historical documents. Research family histories using museum archives, public records, and online resources.
- Assist visitors and researchers in tracing family trees or historical connections.
- Maintain accurate and organised digital and paper records for future reference.
- Support the museum staff in cataloguing new donations or artefacts.
- Ensure data is entered accurately, following museum standards and confidentiality policies.
- Help compile reports or summaries based on research findings.
- Collaborate with other volunteers and staff on historical projects or exhibitions.
- Keep up to date with genealogical research methods and resources.
